We live in an age of algorithms, tribes, instant reactions and endless disagreement. But perhaps the deepest problem isn’t that we disagree—it is that we’ve forgotten how to listen.
John Stuart Mill understood something important: even an opinion we believe is wrong can help us understand truth more clearly.
But that raises a harder question:
Are we defending truth—or simply defending ourselves?
This is a reflection on disagreement, courage, resilience, and what happens when we allow our convictions to be tested by reality.
