Forty-three years ago, I fell in love with a girl. Today, I look into her eyes and still see that same girl I married all those years ago.

“Lean on My Arm” is a personal love song about growing older together, watching our children grow and leave home, and recognising that while time changes our bodies, it need not diminish the love we share.

My beard has turned white, the years have left their marks, and life has brought its share of joys, struggles and memories. Yet the woman beside me still inspires me to write love songs.

Musically, this song brings together contemporary jazz-pop, soulful R&B rhythms, melodic fretless bass and warm orchestral arrangements. I wanted the music to reflect something important: growing older doesn’t mean the passion has disappeared.

“Lean on my shoulder,
Close your eyes and rest.
I will always be here,
Holding on to you.”*

The photograph on the cover is of the two of us. Behind that simple moment is a lifetime of shared experiences.

This song is for my wife, Tania, and for everyone who has discovered that love is not simply something we fall into when we are young, but something we continue to live as the years unfold.
